Virtues
Physical health depends extremely on the virtues of man. The noble man does not get sick. If he comes to doubt Virtue, he begins to get sick. If a sick one believes in Virtue, he would surely get healed. When he errs, man gets out of the sphere of Virtue and opens the door to sin. When he sins, he begins to get sick. And after sickness there comes death.
Many ask me the question why man should be good. Very simply - man should be good in order to be healthy. Good and Virtue are the first conditions for the health of man.
If during all his life from youth to elder years man does not allow any evil thought in his mind, nor one evil feeling in his heart or an evil action, no sickness can befall on him. Many bacilli might pass through his organism, but their poison would be powerless.
Each idea and virtue, which can be put into action, contributes to the health of man.
When man suffers from some kind of sickness, he undergoes sufferings of flesh. While suffering in that way, he studies the laws of life. Each sickness shows that some kind of virtue is being violated. The pain of the eyes, of the head, the chest, the stomach as well as of all other organs shows that all these organs lack something. When they acquire what is lacking, their state of health would be restored.
Only the patient one can be healthy, bright and cheerful.
